25 Easy Ways to Earn an Extra £1000 Every Month

Cleaning is an excellent way to earn some extra money – often paying up to £10 per hour. If you can clean an office for two hours per night after your 9-5, that’s an extra £300+ a month in your account.

Some companies also look for cleaners for more taxing jobs such as un-occupied building cleaning or end of tenancy cleaning, where you could earn as much as £100 for a days work.

Hospitality pays slightly less than cleaning, but if you enjoy socialising then this might be a better choice for you. You also need to take into account the tips you can earn in this industry which really add up.

Are you an excellent guitar or piano player? Or perhaps the clarinet is your weapon of choice? Whichever instrument is your area of expertise, why not share your knowledge and teach others how to play?

If you have a real passion for music then nothing will make you feel better than to share that enthusiasm and knowledge with other players who are just starting their musical journey. Private music lessons can cost upwards of £30 per hour so advertise your services now and turn your passions into profit.

Selling clothes, electronics, homewares and other items online using apps such as eBay, Depop and Poshmark is an amazing way to free up space in your home and earn some additional income. Start with clearing out all the things you no longer need from your home and then you can consider purchasing things in charity shops purely for reselling. I have made over £3000 in the last couple of years just from selling from time to time on eBay. If you put in the work then you could take this hobby full time.

Babysitting is a great way for young people to earn some pocket money. You need to have a very responsible attitude and be diligent in keeping children in your care safe at all times. For the right person, babysitting can be a rewarding and well-paying option.

If you are looking for an easy way to earn money online then Swagbucks is a great choice. Swagbucks rewards you points called ‘SB’ for completing tasks such as answering surveys, polls, watching videos, playing games, searching the web and more. Swagbucks can be redeemed for either cash or gift cards, however you get more bang for your buck if you choose a gift card. You can currently trade 1,440 SB for a £10 Amazon gift card and it’s easy enough to earn those first 1,440 SB with the multiple offers they currently have for new signups.

Many banks will reward you for switching your current account. In 2019 I have seen multiple big name banks offer between £100–£175 as switching bonuses. If you are a married couple with a joint bank account and both of you also have sole accounts, you could have earned £525 this year alone just to change your bank.

To see which banks are currently offering the best reward, check out Money Saving Expert which always has the latest information.

If you are a talented and experienced web designer, why not advertise your services online? You can easily advertise on Gumtree, Facebook, LinkedIn and Fiverr.

Full-time web designers can earn in the range of £30k – £70k a year and some designers highly skilled in code, java and .net can earn even more than this. So depending on the hours you wish to put in, the money you could earn is very lucrative.

You can also work from home at any hours that suit you, which is another selling point to this brilliant side hustle.

Airbnb is currently one of the most popular accommodation booking services on the web. If you have somehow made it to 2019 without having heard of this innovative site then let me explain. People rent out their homes and spare rooms on Airbnb to tourists at a better rate than hotels. It is a great way for people who are travelling to find inexpensive, high-quality accommodation, and a great way for homeowners to make some extra money from the underutilised spaces in their home.

An average double room in a major UK city currently lets for between £80-£150+ per night. Rates vary depending on where your property is based, and you can choose to rent out a single room or your entire home. Anything from studio apartments to eight bedroom manor houses can be found available for booking on Airbnb.

So if you have property or a room that is currently uninhabited, then consider advertising on Airbnb for a great source of additional income.

Whether you want to sell your images to distributors to use as stock photos or advertising, or you might prefer to do personal photography for events like weddings and birthdays, if you are a skilled camera person then this can be a great way to earn cash from your passion.

Most photographers get pure joy out of taking beautiful images, so if that sounds like you then this won’t even feel like a job but you’ll still be getting paid.

I can tell you as a writer, that proofreading is the absolute worst part of running a website. Writers in all different industries will always be looking for a second pair of eyes to proofread their hard work, and they are willing to pay.

Advertise your services on Fiverr, Gumtree or Craigslist. There are also specialized agencies looking for proofreaders all over the world so just a quick search on Google for proofreading jobs in your country should get you up an running in no time.

If you’re great at producing spreadsheets then you might be able to sell your templates online for cash. People are always looking for solutions to storing and managing data on excel, so if you have created a helpful spreadsheet for budgeting, expense and cost tracking or building a business plan then have a look and see if anybody is willing to buy your material.

Better still, if you already have your own website or blog, then make your tools and resources available for download and set up a payment page using PayPal.

If you’re multi-lingual, then why not put those skills to good use and earn extra money for doing some translation work. The stronger your language skills are, the more you will be able to charge for your services and if you are good at what you do then your clients will always come back for more.

I have seen first hand in the industry that I work in, that there is a serious shortage of good translators out there, so if languages are one of your strong topics then capitalise on this! You can charge upwards of £12 per hour for translation work so just a few hours work a week will really boost your monthly earnings.

If you have excellent English language skills then you could consider teaching English as a foreign language. You will usually need to complete some sort of teaching qualification, however, once you are qualified, you could earn as much as £35,000 full time.

If you are looking to teach private classes then you can choose your own rates but this skill really can be very lucrative if you put the time into getting qualified initially. Plus, you will be helping people all over the world learn a valuable skill that will change their lives and prospects forever.

Grass cutting is a great way to earn some extra dosh while enjoying the great outdoors. You can get up and running by purchasing a second-hand lawnmower for a couple of hundred pounds, and the money you spend could be earned back in the space of one weekend just by mowing a couple of lawns.

This is great for teenagers looking to earn pocket money as you can choose your own hours and get business from recommendations by family members. Depending on the size of the area you could earn between £20 – £150 per lawn.

Car washing is another great way to earn some extra money and something I used to do as a teenager. All you need to get started is a bucket, sponges, soap and access to a hose pipe or jet washer.

Ask your neighbours if they would like their car washed and a good portion of them will be interested as most people either don’t want to do this themselves or don’t have the time to go out of their way to the car wash. Depending on the size of the car and the level of cleaning that the customer is looking for, you could earn between £10 – £25 per car.

If you’re an excellent crafter then why not turn your creations into a small business? Whether you are skilled at painting, woodwork, sewing or candle making, there are always people looking to buy interesting and unique pieces on Etsy. Using cashback websites to earn money back on your online purchases is a great way to earn some extra money with very minimal effort.

TopCashback is my favourite online cashback service – they have over 5000 retailers offering cashback on purchases and all you have to do is create an account, find the retailer that you wish to purchase from, click on the merchant website through TopCashback and then shop as normal. Cashback is paid as a percentage of what you spend – usually between 2%-10%, but sometimes more. The cashback will be available to withdraw usually within 6-8 weeks but sometimes it takes a little longer.

I have recently started using this service and have made nearly £70 in cashback in just a few weeks. There are even ‘free cashback’ offers on the website where no purchase is necessary, you just need to sign up for different trials and remember to cancel before the end of the trial if you don’t wish to continue with the service.

If you sign up to TopCashback using my link then you will receive a £5 Tesco gift card as soon as you earn £10 in cashback. There are currently enough ‘free cashback’ offers available to earn your first £10 without even spending any money!

I love to buy old, tired items from charity shops, or even pick them up for free from Facebook Marketplace and transform them into something new and then resell them. I find the items that work best are clothes, furniture and small home furnishing items such as photo frames, clocks, baskets etc.

If you have a natural talent for DIY or dressmaking, then there is no limit to how much money you can make from this and the more time and attention you put in, the bigger the payoff will be.

If you have a parking space where you live that you are not using then you can rent it out for a monthly fee – especially if you live in a built-up area such as near a train station, airport or city centre. Commuters and holiday-makers will often rent a private parking space as it is cheaper than paying parking rates for commercial or council car parks.

You could earn up to £200 per month from your space so why not advertise now and see if anybody is interested? Once you have found a renter then you don’t even need to do any further work – it’ll be the easiest £200 per month you will ever earn!

There are lots of apps and websites online that offer this service so just a quick google search of ‘rent out my parking space’ should help you find a service in your country.

In a society full of aspiring ‘YouTubers’ there are many newbie content creators out there who either don’t have the time to be editing their own videos or just can’t get the hang of editing software to be able to create the finished result of their visions.

So if you are a pro with Final Cut, iMovie or any other editing software then why not advertise your services and help aspiring video and film-makers make their ideas come to life by being a professional video editor? Depending on the hours you need to put into a project, you can charge between £50 – £200+ per video.

We have all been in this situation before, somebody kindly gives you a gift card, but for a place that you simply don’t shop at. You look around the store to see if there is anything that takes your fancy, but there isn’t anything and you feel like you would just be buying something for the sake of it.

Instead of wasting the gift card on an item that is just going to add clutter to your home, try reselling the gift card online for cash. You won’t get the full value of the gift card back, but you can usually resell cards for 50% – 80% of their original value. CardYard is my favourite site for selling gift cards, the website is easy to use, the process is simple and you’re usually able to sell your cards and get paid within a couple of weeks.

Gardening is an excellent way to earn some extra money from your relaxing hobby, all while enjoying the great outdoors. Although work is often seasonal, you can earn great money; £150 for a full days work, or £20+ per hour if the customer only needs some light maintenance work such as pruning or grass cutting.

Work is usually easy to find just by advertising on Gumtree, newspapers or local bulletin boards. So if you’re looking to earn some extra money in the sunshine then this might be for you.

Delivering fast food has never been easier with services like Deliveroo, UberEats and PostMates now in the game. The great thing is because you are self-employed through most of these services, you can choose your working hours and fit your deliveries around your other commitments.

Delivery ‘riders’ are making as much as £120 per day in busy cities, and also keep 100% of any tips they receive from customers. So if you want to earn some extra money for riding your bike around town then apply now.

If you have good DIY skills and enjoy painting and decorating, then why not advertise in your area and see if any of your neighbours have any odd jobs that they need completing around their home? Anything from assembling furniture, to hanging pictures, to repainting living rooms.

these are tasks that many busy families simply do not have the time to be completing themselves, so it is not unusual for them to employ the service of a handyman to complete these rather simple tasks.

You can comfortably charge £20 + per hour as a handyman or £200 + for a full day rate. So if you decide to work a full day every weekend, or a few extra hours in the evenings during the week, you’ll soon be on your way to earning close to a full-time wage.
