Getting up super early in the morning is one of the best kept secrets to the success of many millionaires and successful people around the world.

Without getting up at 5.30am, I would never have been able to grow this blog at the rate that I have in such a short space of time.

Whether you’re trying to find more time to grow your business, you want to use your mornings to work on chores without disturbance, or you simply want more time in the morning to take a bath and get ready slowly, then here are some tips that will help you wake up earlier and get the most value out of your morning.

9 Ways To Get The Most Out Of Your Mornings

Waking up earlier in order to get the most out of your morning is a no-brainer.  However, it’s a lot easier said than done, so you need to have a purpose for this extra time as an incentive to not hit snooze

I like to use my extra morning time to get chores done, work on craft projects and write for my blog. Whatever it is that’s important to you, get up an hour or so earlier than you need to, and use that extra time to work on your projects in complete peace and quiet before the day starts demanding things from you.

Still struggling to wake up early?  Well then it’s simple: go to bed earlier!

It’s common sense that if you’re lacking in sleep then you’re going to struggle to get up early feeling bright and springy.  If you try to burn the candle at both ends, you might manage for a couple of weeks or even months, but at some point, you’ll become seriously burnt out and it could even affect your health.

So make sure you’re getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night if you want to become a morning person.

If you’re one of the many who really struggles to drag themselves out of bed in the morning and when you eventually do, you feel like a zombie, then try jumping in the shower immediately after you get out of bed.

This will give your body a surprise, and the water on your face and body will very quickly get you out of that groggy state of mind.  Once you’ve finished your shower, you’ll feel super refreshed and more prepared to start working on your tasks for the day with an alert mind.

I like to have something to look forward to once I get out of the shower, that will give me an extra kick up the butt that I often need in the AM.

For me, it’s my morning coffee.  I am such a coffee lover and I literally look forward to my next cup at different points throughout my day. Each night, I leave out my favourite mug and coffee pods ready for me to make my favourite drink the next day.

For you it may be tea, coffee, a sweet treat or even half an hour to watch some trashy breakfast TV that you secretly love. Whatever floats your boat, having this to look forward to will make it much easier for you to choose an early start over the extra hour with your head on the pillow.

Eating breakfast soon after you wake up will kick start your metabolism into gear, helping you to maintain a healthy appetite throughout the rest of your day.

This will moderate weight gain and the temptation to snack on junk food later on and will give your brain a boost allowing you to work on whatever it is that’s important to you.

If you struggle to eat anything first thing in the morning, then start small with a piece of fruit or a smoothie. As your appetite grows, you can then work up to something more wholesome such as toast or oatmeal.

This is an essential part of my routine that massively makes a difference to my productivity in the mornings.

I always lay out my clothes for the next day before I go to bed each night. That way, putting together an outfit is one less thing I have to focus on the next day, and I’m not at risk of realizing that I have run out of clean socks when it’s too late to do anything about it!

It’s simple, textbook advice that you have probably seen a million times right?  Well then why aren’t you doing it yet?

Having a to-do list to follow stops me from pottering about, taking two hours to style my hair and makeup and quite frankly wasting my morning time.

I’ll add every last little thing that I want to achieve in the morning to my to-do list, and even if I don’t complete everything, I still get a lot more accomplished than I would if I wasn’t following a list at all!

Exercise is another great way to give you a boost of energy in the morning.  Getting up and moving about loosens up your muscles and gets your brain’s activity function started, kicking coordination, focus and concentration into gear.

You don’t need to do anything too heavy-duty.  Some light stretches or yoga will do the trick or even just taking the dog out for a walk!

Last but not least, keeping off technology will make a massive difference when it comes to how much value you get from your morning.

If you’re currently one of those people who wakes up, reaches for their phone and then stays in bed for twenty minutes scrolling through emails and social media, then stop, right now!

While it might be a great way to gradually wake yourself up and ease into the day, it also exposes you to negativity, drama and damage to your self-esteem that is so easy to pick up on through platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

Reading messages and emails from friends, family and work colleagues, can bog you down with thoughts or work and responsibility before you’ve even had a chance to wipe the sleep out of your eyes.

To Finish Off…

I really hope you enjoyed this post and you’ve been inspired to get up earlier every day in order to lead a more productive life.
