After what seemed like a super long winter, spring is finally looming!
The nights are getting shorter, the weather is warming up, and it’s time to start thinking about switching out the chunky knitted sweaters for something a little more flattering and feminine.
It’s important to get the balance right with your springtime wardrobe though. It’s easy to get carried away and go straight for the strapless dresses and bandeau tops, but it can still be a bit chilly at this time of year, and April showers aren’t just an expression.
So today I wanted to share with you five of my must-haves for my springtime transitional wardrobe.
5 Transitional Wardrobe Must-Haves
FINE KNIT JUMPERS
Fine knit jumpers allow you to create versatile outfits no matter the weather.
The key to keeping the temperature right in spring is layering – so make sure you have a selection of fine sweaters which can be worn over blouses, cami’s and t-shirts when the sun goes in.
Even create a totally unique look by throwing a cropped sweater over a dress to double up your dresses as “skirts”.
With some climates still experiencing winds and showers during the springtime, it’s important to have suitable outerwear for days when it’s a little chillier.
I find that a denim jacket does the trick perfectly. Pair yours with almost any outfit: dresses, skirts, or even pull off the double denim look with jeans – the trick is to choose different washes for each article of clothing.
Wearing a blazer over any outfit is my favourite way to add a touch of style and sophistication, whilst also giving you an extra layer when you need it.
Blazers make a great alternative to denim jackets in springtime, giving you a more formal appearance for occasions like meetings, dinners and evening events.
There are choices to suit any style – checked, pinks, naturals and bright colours. Pair with jeans for a business casual look, or flowy trousers for something more professional.
Another layering must-have – take full advantage of wearing your lightweight strappy tops this season by including a selection of cardigans in your wardrobe.
I like to make sure that I have at least a black, white and brown or natural option, plus one or two more brightly coloured choices so that I can create some more eye-catching looks when I’m feeling a bit braver.
Cardigans are perfect no matter the occasion and make a great alternative to having to wear a jacket outside.
Skirts are perfect for putting together a super girly outfit whilst still being suitable for the transitional weather.
Show off your legs on warmer days, or cover up with tights if it’s chilly or you’re conscious that you’ve not yet caught a tan.
Skirts are really easy to style and wear layers on top – pair with a shirt and top it off with a nice blazer or cardigan.
