I really love makeup and beauty products.

I love trying new things and buying new products to see if I can improve my beauty routine. From time to time, I come across a product that I end up totally loving and it replaces a holy grail that I’d previously sworn by for years.

I love to spend time reading beauty blogs and watching makeup enthusiasts on YouTube to see what the experts are recommending. So with over ten years of trialing different products, seeing what works for my skin and facial structure, I can finally put together a list of what I believe to be the best beauty and skincare products currently on the market.

I will go into my skin-type, requirements and what’s important to me in more detail as I talk about each product, but as a heads up, these are the products that work for me as a fair, normal to combination skinned girl who likes a more natural, low-maintenance beauty routine.

The 9 Essential Beauty Products That I Can’t Do Without

Liz Earle Skincare Range

Specifically I’m referring to the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser, Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturizer.

I’ve been using the Liz Earle skincare range since I was 16 years old, and nothing else I’ve ever tried has ever come close.

These products are really great for normal to combination skin. I’ve never really suffered with acne and am lucky enough to have very easy to manage skin. The main problems I see in my skin is occasional hormonal spots and dryness in the winter.

These three products when used together every day, leave my skin feeling super cleansed, hydrated, fresh and moisturized. I haven’t got a bad word to say about the Liz Earle skincare range and don’t see myself ever switching to anything else.

Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

The only time I like to use something different to the Liz Earle range, is those few and far between times where I do have a little bit of acne or blackheads around my nose and chin. This is usually due to hormonal changes, or if I’ve been wearing a lot of makeup and haven’t been taking it off at night – tut tut.

It’s then that I’ll use the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. This is an amazing product considering the drugstore price point, and gives the skin a deep clean to remove impurities and blockages. I do find this product can dry my skin out a little if I use it too much, so make sure to alternate with a less harsh cleanser in between uses, or opt for an extra rich moisturizer after you’ve washed your face.

L’oreal Paris, Face Mask, Pure Clay

I’m not a huge lover of face masks as I don’t have very problematic skin and find it can dry my face out if I use too many products.

So for that reason, I’ve never tried any high end face masks and I’m happy to stick to the L’oreal Paris, Face Mask, Pure Clay which I only use from time to time and leaves me glowing every time.

The mask is excellent and drawing out impurities from your pores, so if you’ve got some blackheads or spots on your face then this is a great option if you want something simple and fairly cheap to give your pores a deep clean and not dry out your skin too much.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster Drops

Ahhhh… my HOLY GRAIL – this product is my favourite thing on this whole list.

Use the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster drops by adding a few drops into your usual moisturizer and applying as normal. The drops will develop overnight leaving you with a wonderful sun kissed glow the next day.

The look isn’t as dramatic as a fake tanner, but you’ll totally notice that you have a lot more colour to your face after just a couple of days. The colour is super buildable, and the more drops you use, the more noticeable the colour will be. I use around 5 drops when I’m looking my most pale, and work down to just 1 or 2 later on in the week. To maintain the look I usually use a couple of drops every other day.

The first time I looked into buying these I was put off by the price in comparison to the size of the bottle, however these will last you forever! I’ve had mine about three months, and after using them on a fairly consistent basis since I purchased them, I haven’t even used 10% of the bottle yet.

SoSu by Suzanne Jackson Dripping Gold Tan Mousse

I’m very naturally pale, but I used to hate tanning because firstly, I’m lazy, and secondly, I could never find a tan that I liked that didn’t have that nasty biscuity after-smell.

That was until I tried the SoSu by Suzanne Jackson Dripping Gold Tan Mousse. This product not only leaves you with a stunning warm golden colour, which lasts well up to a week if you look after your tan, but it really doesn’t smell to bad at all.

I’m not going to say that it has no smell to it, but compared to many other well know self tanners, it’s pretty mild. As a pale girl who gets conscious of my pastiness in the summertime, this self tanner is my favourite product to give me a sun kissed look without having to sunbathe.

Olaplex

As somebody who has very thick, long, textured hair, I could not do without my Olaplex.

I like to dye my hair different colours fairly often, and I’m not great at haircare in general – I don’t brush my hair everyday, I got to sleep with it in a messy bun and I never bother with regular hair masks.

So with all that in mind, my hair can get very knotty and I do get a few split ends quite easily. That’s where Olaplex comes in.

Described as a hair-repair treatment, you can use the product in any way you like. Whether you want to apply to your hair and leave for only 5-10 minutes whilst in the shower, or you’re happy to cover your hair in it, and wear it in a bun all day, once you wash the product out, your hair will literally feel like silk.

What’s great about Olaplex, it that if you apply it to dry hair, then it drys onto the hair fairly quickly. This makes it easy for you to apply it before you go out the house, and you can go to work, do the school run or do whatever else it is that you do, without it looking like you’re wearing a greasy, wet hair treatment – it just kinda looks like you put in leave in conditioner or gel.

The longer you leave the product in, the better the results, but even after just 10 minutes, your hair will be left super silky, shiny, easy to brush and it feels like any brittleness and broken ends have been totally repaired.

Hoola Bronzer

Going back to the fact that I’m naturally pale, I am always looking for easy to use, natural makeup products to give me an extra glow and look of radiance – especially in spring-summer.

Whilst I have tried a tonne of different bronzing powders, creams, sticks and contour products, I always seem to come back to the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit.

I’m sure if you’re interested in beauty products then this isn’t the first time you’ve heard of Hoola, but if you’re still yet to try it for yourself then I really urge you to give it a go. It’s highly buildable, works with a whole range of light to medium skintones, and stays on all day for a natural, radiant appearance all the way to sunset.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Dipbrow Pomade & Gel

I am SO BAD at doing my brows.

It’s not that I don’t know how to do them – the issue is that my brows are naturally very lop-sided and sparse in the front, so when I fill them in, it looks like I am constantly raising one eyebrow… 🤨 but, because they’re sparse, I need to do something with them to make them serve their purpose of framing my face…

Well, the dilemma was finally solved when I eventually tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dipbrow Pomade and Dipbrow Gel. I personally use the pomade to fill in the arch and ends of my brows, then lightly use what’s left on the brush to fill in the front, before topping everything off with the brow gel to add some extra colour to the front of my brows and hold everything in place.

I can’t tell you what it is about this product that is different to other brow products I’ve tried, but I can say that the way my brows look after using this is so much better than anything else I’ve ever used, and that’s coming from somebody who is absolutely hopeless at filling in my brows.

Tarte Shape Tape

Finally, the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is an absolute must-have beauty product no matter what skin type, skin colour or level of makeup interest you have.

An absolutely amazing product which completely covers a multitude of skin sins including dark circles, redness, blemishes, dullness and so on.

The product is super blendable, doesn’t crease at all and can be built upon to suit both light coverage and full coverage requirements. As somebody who usually likes to go for the no-make, makeup look, I love this product as it leaves me with flawless looking skin when I want to create a natural look, and also works perfectly for the days where I want to go full glam.
